On a summer evening in Union, Missouri, a verbal altercation at an Arby's restaurant escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 49-year-old Ronnie Wayne Sanford II. The incident, which unfolded on Sunday, July 30, 2023, began with a dispute among several individuals inside the fast-food establishment on Denmark Road.
The argument spilled out into the parking lot, after which those involved dispersed. However, the conflict was far from over. Shortly after the initial disturbance, police were notified of a shooting nearby. Officers discovered Sanford lying on the ground near the intersection of Old Highway 50 E and Highway 50 with a gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington, where he was pronounced dead.
While officers were at the scene of the shooting, a woman who had been involved in the earlier argument at Arby's and had returned to speak with police received a call from her husband, who informed her that he had just shot Sanford. The suspect, identified as Antoine Brown, also known as Antoine Frazier, aged 40 and from Union, was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting.
Following the investigation, Antoine Brown was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is currently being held at the Franklin County Adult Detention Facility on a no-bond warrant. Reports indicate that the victim and the suspect did not know each other prior to the incident.
