On September 28, 2023, 57-year-old Earl "Junebug" Jones Jr. was found deceased near the intersection of Winkler Drive and Kappel Drive in St. Louis County, Missouri. Authorities responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 7:30 a.m. and discovered Jones with a fatal gunshot wound to the head; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
