In a tragic turn of events, 16-year-old Isaiah Walker of Jennings, Missouri, succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound in January 2024. On the evening of January 24, police responded to a call and discovered the male teenager in the street on the 9000 block of Halls Ferry Road in north St. Louis, near the city's border with Jennings. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of his life-threatening injuries.
Despite medical efforts, Isaiah Walker passed away three days later, on January 27.
The investigation into the homicide led authorities to a startling conclusion more than a month after the incident. On March 6, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office brought charges against Isaiah's own father, 51-year-old Carl Walker Jr. The investigation revealed that the father and son had been engaged in an argument over personal matters on the day of the shooting. They were seen leaving their residence together in a vehicle and later walking back toward their home. It was during this time that Carl Walker Jr. allegedly shot his son.
Following the shooting, authorities allege that Carl Walker Jr. attempted to conceal evidence by hiding a. 45 caliber handgun magazine and various articles of clothing in a trash barrel, which were later recovered by law enforcement. A shell casing from a. 45 caliber weapon was also found at the scene of the crime. According to police, Carl Walker Jr., a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm, later admitted to shooting and killing his son. He has been charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm and is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
Those who knew Isaiah described him as a young man who had a passion for football and playing video games. A GoFundMe page created to assist his mother with funeral expenses noted that he shared a close bond with his sister and his cousin.
