In the quiet resort town of Osage Beach, Missouri, a young man's life was tragically cut short on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. David Charles Davis, a 22-year-old male, was fatally shot in an encounter that began over a purported marijuana deal and ended in bloodshed. The incident unfolded in the parking lot of a local trampoline park, shattering the holiday peace and leaving a community in shock.
According to authorities, Davis and another individual were in their vehicle when they
were approached by Fernando Hutchinson, a 20-year-old from Osage Beach. The purpose of the meeting was allegedly for Hutchinson to purchase marijuana. However, the situation quickly escalated when Hutchinson reportedly reached into the vehicle, grabbed something, and fled the scene. Davis and his companion gave chase, pursuing Hutchinson towards a nearby apartment complex.
The foot chase led them to the vicinity of a resort where the pursuit turned deadly. Hutchinson is alleged to have fired a weapon, striking Davis in the chest. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, David Davis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The young man, who was formerly of Waynesville and more recently resided in Texarkana, Texas, was remembered by his family and friends in the days that followed.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement officers located Hutchinson at his apartment, where a handgun was recovered. Following an investigation into the events of that fatal evening, Fernando Hutchinson was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of David Charles Davis. Hutchinson was transported to the Camden County Jail and held without bond as the legal process began to address the violent end to a young man's life.
