In the early morning hours of July 28, 2024, a burst of violence in a Springfield, Missouri, parking lot cut short the life of D’Vaunte Tavon Grant. The 31-year-old Black male from Texas was shot at approximately 3:22 a.m. in the parking lot of the Wicked Superstore on East Kearney Street. When police responded to a 911 call, they found evidence of a shooting but no victim. Grant had already been transported to a local hospital by a citizen.
