On August 12, 2023, 27-year-old Jameer Outsey, a former standout football player from Franklin Township High School and UNLV, was fatally shot in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Elizabeth police responded to reports of a gunshot victim near North Broad Street and Magnolia Avenue, where they found Outsey with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
