In the early morning hours of October 12th, the city of Paterson was disturbed by a fatal act of violence. Adalberto Roman, a 47-year-old man from the area, was found near the intersection of Summer Street and Hamilton Avenue with a gunshot wound to his head. The incident, which occurred around 1 a.m. not far from a middle school, marked a grim milestone as the fifth homicide in the city that week.
The investigation into Roman's death led authorities to a suspect, Jaleel State, a
29-year-old resident of Paterson. Following the investigation, State was taken into custody and is facing several serious charges, including murder and unlawful possession of a weapon.
After his arrest, Jaleel State was being held at the Bergen County Jail. He is currently awaiting his first court appearance to face the charges brought against him in connection with the shooting death of Adalberto Roman.
