On the evening of November 4, 2023, Jamal Scott, a 48-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Camden, New Jersey. The incident occurred near the intersection of 10th and Mechanic Streets, a detail that would become central to the ensuing investigation. Multiple 911 calls reporting a person shot brought Camden County Police to the scene at approximately 9:09 p.m. There they found Scott suffering from a gunshot wound.
