In a tragic turn of events on the evening of May 7, 2024, 43-year-old Nina D. Sinclair-Green was fatally shot in Clayton, New Jersey. The incident unfolded at the Academy Arms apartment complex on North Broad Street, where Sinclair-Green had arrived to gather her belongings and move out of the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, 45-year-old Anthony J. Williams.
Sinclair-Green had enlisted the help of her family, who were waiting for her in a vehicle in the parking lot.
As she was in the process of packing, Williams shot her multiple times. He then fired a semi-automatic handgun through the open front door of the apartment toward the car where her family members were, striking the vehicle. Fortunately, none of her relatives were physically harmed in the shooting.
Following the shooting, Williams turned the gun on himself, taking his own life inside the apartment. When Clayton Police responded to reports of a domestic incident and gunfire around 7 p.m., they found both Sinclair-Green and Williams deceased at the scene. An autopsy later confirmed that Sinclair-Green died from multiple gunshot wounds in what was ruled a homicide, while Williams died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office investigated the case as a murder-suicide. Since the perpetrator was deceased, no arrests were made. Friends and family were left to mourn the loss of Sinclair-Green, who was remembered as a vibrant individual. The incident has been highlighted as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of domestic violence situations.
