In a quiet Teaneck, New Jersey neighborhood, the morning of August 15, 2024, was shattered by the sound of gunfire that would ultimately signify a tragic end to a young woman's life. Naomi Hagley, a 26-year-old female, was found by police inside a Hickory Street residence with multiple gunshot wounds. The call to law enforcement came at approximately 8:25 a.m., and upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene.
Naomi was rushed to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect who was not a stranger, but rather Naomi's own twin brother, Jonathan D. Hagley, also 26. Following his arrest, Jonathan Hagley, a resident of New York, NY, was charged with a number of serious offenses. These charges include first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and obstructing justice. He was subsequently taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a detention hearing. Further investigation revealed that at the time of his sister's death, Jonathan was out on bond for a separate shooting incident that had occurred in Harlem months prior.
