In the late summer of 2023, the community of Petersburg, Virginia, was shaken by a senseless act of violence that claimed the life of a promising young university student. On the evening of August 24th, 19-year-old Matthew Gibbs was discovered inside a vehicle near Walnut Hill Elementary School, suffering from a gunshot wound.
