On the evening of May 9, 2024, in the 1300 block of Blythewood Lane in Suffolk, Virginia, tragedy struck. Responding to a call of shots fired just before 6:40 p.m., police discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man, identified as 26-year-old Darrell Lamont Knight Jr., was pronounced deceased at the scene. A graduate of Lakeland High School's class of 2016, where he had been a football player, Knight was known as a loving caretaker for his grandfather.
