On the night of June 28, 2024, in Annandale, Virginia, a 14-year-old Hispanic male named Elvis Anderson Grande-Gonzalez was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. in the Fairmont Gardens Apartments on Little River Turnpike. Grande-Gonzalez was walking with a 16-year-old friend when a vehicle approached them, and its occupants opened fire. Grande-Gonzalez was struck in the back, while his companion was hit in the lower body.
Both were transported to a local hospital, where Elvis succumbed to his injuries. The 16-year-old survived with non-life-threatening wounds.
Having immigrated to the United States at a young age, Elvis was known for his love of music and soccer. He was remembered as a diligent student and a cherished friend to many in his community. His death left a significant void in the lives of his mother, siblings, grandmother, and niece, to whom he was deeply devoted.
Following an investigation into the shooting, which authorities believe was not a random act, Fairfax County Police arrested two teenage suspects. A 15-year-old male was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The second suspect, a 16-year-old male, was charged as a principal in the second degree. Both individuals are being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.
