In the early morning hours of August 4, 2024, a shooting in Glen Allen, Virginia, claimed the life of 33-year-old Deondre Jermaine Spinks of Richmond. Henrico Police responded to a call around 2:28 a.m. near the intersection of Virginia Center Parkway and Wylie Lane, where they discovered Spinks suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was transported to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Family members described Spinks as a loving father to his
two-year-old daughter and a dedicated employee of Henrico County, where he specialized in road maintenance and heavy machinery. His mother expressed profound grief, emphasizing that her son was a good man who worked hard to provide for his child. Though the shooting occurred in a residential area off Virginia Center Parkway, family members noted that Spinks did not reside in that neighborhood. One local resident reported hearing a loud noise, which he initially dismissed as a car door slamming, before noticing the police presence.
