Martell Antwine Hamilton, a 39-year-old Black man from Greenwood, South Carolina, spent the last night of his life in the familiar orbit of the city’s west side. On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, that routine was shattered on Taggart Avenue, a short neighborhood street lined with modest homes.
