Charles Slacks Jr., the ex-husband of the children's mother, Aletha Holliday, forced his way into the residence. As Ava and her two younger half-brothers, 6-year-old Aason Holliday-Slacks and 5-year-old Aayden Holliday-Slacks, slept in their beds, Slacks opened fire, fatally wounding all three. Another adult in the home, 38-year-old Carlos Evans, was also shot and killed by Slacks.
