Charles D. Byrd Jr., a 55-year-old man from Easley, South Carolina, was fatally shot in his home on May 25, 2023. The Pickens County Sheriff's Office responded to a call and found Byrd deceased from a gunshot wound. The investigation into his death quickly led to a suspect, his 20-year-old stepson.
