On June 17, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., 21-year-old Thomas Anthony Carter was fatally shot in front of a residence on Dorchester Manor Boulevard in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Carter's death.
