On August 5, 2023, 22-year-old Dorothy "Suzanne" Sterling Cannon was fatally shot during a house party near Burgess School Road and Highway 418 in Pelzer, South Carolina. Deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting around 11:20 p.m. and found Cannon deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
