In the late hours of a summer evening in Pelzer, South Carolina, a house party turned tragic, abruptly ending the life of 22-year-old Dorothy Suzanne Sterling Cannon. On August 5, 2023, the young woman, known to her loved ones as Suzanne, was fatally shot. A resident of Simpsonville, she was a White female who was born on October 18, 2000, in Greenville.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting near Burgess School Road and Highway 418 at approximately
11:20 p.m. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Cannon deceased at the scene, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The Greenville County Coroner's Office later conducted an autopsy which confirmed that her death was a result of these injuries and officially classified it as a homicide.
Described as a loving daughter, sister, and friend, Suzanne was remembered for her adventurous, outgoing, and inclusive personality that brought joy to those around her. She was a gifted artist who had received awards for her work through Mauldin High School and Greenville Artisphere.
As of now, the investigation into her murder is ongoing, and authorities have not yet made any arrests or publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting.
