On November 5, 2023, 19-year-old Brooke Lynn Akins from Galivants Ferry, South Carolina, tragically lost her life due to a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. near North Highway 701 in the Loris area. Emergency responders transported her to McLeod Health Loris, where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
