Fahim Khalid, a 16-year-old Black male, was found unresponsive in the front yard of a residence on Bywood Drive on February 16, 2024. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his torso. When deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department arrived at the scene shortly before noon, they discovered his stepfather attempting to render aid.
The deputies immediately began chest compressions in a desperate effort to save him, but their attempts were unsuccessful, and the responding emergency medical services personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
