On March 23, 2024, at approximately 6 p.m., Mauldin Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Arbors at Brookfield Apartments in Mauldin, South Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered two women deceased from multiple gunshot wounds: 52-year-old Kim Melissa Thrift and 41-year-old Mariellen Bessent Minor. Thrift was found inside a vehicle, while Minor was located beside the vehicle.
