In the early hours of March 27, 2024, a shooting at a Greenville, South Carolina apartment complex tragically cut short the life of 21-year-old Azaveon Ymez Natour Wakefield. Authorities responded to a call shortly before 4 a.m. at the Highlands Apartments on Pine Creek Court Extension, where they discovered Wakefield with a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Wakefield to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head.
The Greenville County Coroner's Office later officially ruled his death a homicide. Azaveon Wakefield was a Black male.
