Death by Force

On May 5, 2024, in Iva, South Carolina, authorities discovered the bodies of 43-year-old Betty “Marie” Grindstaff and 34-year-old Ernest Eldridge Pelfrey inside a camper on Mauldin Road. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The Anderson County Coroner's Office determined that Pelfrey, who was in a relationship with Grindstaff, shot her before turning the gun on himself, labeling the incident a murder-suicide.
