On May 11, 2024, 17-year-old Calvin Lamont Parker Jr. of Greenwood, South Carolina, was fatally shot at the Ware Shoals Dragway during the "Best of Both Worlds Car and Bike Show." The Laurens County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident around 7:45 p.m., finding Parker with a fatal gunshot wound.
