On June 23, 2024, 26-year-old Specialist Kenneth Lasane Jr., an active-duty U.S. Army Material Specialist, was fatally shot while attending a party on Barnes Street in Mullins, South Carolina. Lasane, a Mullins High School alumnus, was home on leave to celebrate a family friend's birthday.
