In the early morning hours of July 5, 2024, the life of 33-year-old Richard Warren, Jr. was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting on Nassau Street in Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston Police officers responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 1:20 a.m. and discovered a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The Charleston County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as Richard Warren, Jr.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Charleston Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into Warren's death. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify a suspect in the shooting. On the afternoon of July 8, 2024, the Charleston Police Major Warrants Team, with assistance from the US Marshals and the North Charleston Police Department, arrested 23-year-old Terrance Michael Timothy McKelvey of North Charleston in connection with the homicide.
Following his arrest, Terrance Michael Timothy McKelvey was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The Charleston Police Department has stated that the investigation remains active and that additional charges may be forthcoming.
