In the early morning hours of November 2, 2024, a dispute within a Piedmont, South Carolina, apartment ended in the tragic death of 64-year-old Lewis Anthony Polk. A Black male, Mr. Polk was fatally shot at his residence in the Signature Pointe Apartments on Emily Lane. The incident, which unfolded around 4:30 a.m., also left two other people injured.
Investigations by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office determined that Mr.
Polk and the two injured individuals, 24-year-old Tybloshie Shunquavius Rayquan Tate and 41-year-old Jimeika Lakeshia Williams, all resided together. Authorities believe that a disagreement between Polk and Tate escalated, leading to Tate allegedly shooting Polk. Both Tate and Williams also sustained gunshot wounds during the altercation, though the specific circumstances of their injuries are still under investigation.
Following the investigation, three individuals were taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Tybloshie Shunquavius Rayquan Tate faces multiple charges, including murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a weapon by a person convicted of certain crimes, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Jimeika Lakeshia Williams and a 17-year-old, Omarien Raykel Anderson, have both been charged with accessory after the fact of murder. All three suspects were booked at the Greenville County Detention Center.
