Javon Carpenter, a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of Monday, January 16, 2023, in a quiet area just north of Tylertown, Mississippi. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Sims Thornhill Road in Walthall County.
Carpenter was riding on a side-by-side ATV with another individual, Travis Williams, when they were ambushed by gunfire. Both men were struck in the shooting. Carpenter was rushed to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
