In early March 2023, the life of 18-year-old Fredarrious Wilson was tragically cut short, a devastating event that began with his disappearance from his hometown of West Memphis, Arkansas. A high school senior, Wilson was last seen on March 5, 2023. He had told his mother he was going to the movies with a friend. Concern grew when he did not return home, and his mother's repeated calls and texts went unanswered. She later learned he had been with someone other than the friend he had mentioned.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed him with a woman at a McDonald's in West Memphis on the night he vanished.
After being reported missing, an investigation was launched to locate the young man. Authorities were able to track his phone to a remote area within the Holly Springs National Forest in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, approximately 80 miles from his home. An initial search of the vast and remote location on Tuesday proved unsuccessful. However, the search resumed, and on March 8, 2023, a U.S. Forest Service employee discovered Wilson's body. An investigation determined that the male teenager had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation into Wilson's death quickly progressed, suggesting that this was not a random act of violence and that he knew at least one of the individuals involved. The collaborative efforts of the Yalobusha County Sheriff's Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and the West Memphis Police Department led to the identification of four suspects from Coffeeville, Mississippi. By the middle of March, all four suspects were in custody, charged with first-degree murder in connection with Fredarrious Wilson's death.
The individuals arrested were identified as 22-year-old Alicia Jackson, 23-year-old Brandon Jackson, 23-year-old Bralin Jackson, and 27-year-old Devin Smith. Three of the suspects were apprehended on the morning of March 15th, with the fourth taken into custody later that afternoon. Bond for each of the four suspects was set at $1 million. They remained in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
