On September 14, 2023, 20-year-old Jarion Dewayne Jones was found deceased in his residence on Stephens Street in Water Valley, Mississippi. Responding officers from the Water Valley Police Department discovered Jones inside the house, where he was pronounced dead at the scene by Yalobusha County Coroner Ronnie Stark. The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
