On March 22, 2023, the body of 32-year-old Curtis Maurice Vaughn was discovered near the Water Valley Municipal Airport in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. Vaughn, an Oxford resident, had been reported missing by his family on March 21 after last being seen around 11 p.m. on March 20. His body was found approximately 30 feet from the centerline of County Road 214, indicating he may have been killed elsewhere and transported to that location.
