On a tragic Friday night in December 2023, a party in the Hannah Heights area of Ethel, Mississippi, turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of 42-year-old Martell Jackson. The gathering, attended by people from Attala, Leake, and Holmes counties, was shattered by the sound of gunfire when one or more groups began shooting. In the chaos that ensued, at least three individuals were injured and rushed to Baptist Attala hospital for treatment.
