In the late hours of a Saturday night in Greenville, Mississippi, the city marked its first homicide of the year. On January 13, 2024, in the 400 block of North Edison, gunfire erupted, leaving two men struck. Responding to the call at approximately 11:30 p.m., police officers discovered 38-year-old Marcus Jones of Greenville with fatal injuries. Another man was also wounded in the incident and was airlifted for medical treatment.
The initial investigation suggested that the shooting stemmed from an altercation. For a period, no arrests were made as the Greenville Police Department continued to investigate the circumstances that led to Jones's death. The community was left waiting for answers in the wake of the violent encounter that took a life and left another fighting for survival.
After weeks of investigation, authorities identified a suspect in the fatal shooting. Adrian Jamal Pam, a 33-year-old resident of Greenville, was located and apprehended in Evansville, Indiana. In March 2024, investigators from the Greenville Police Department traveled to Indiana to extradite Pam back to Mississippi. He is now facing a charge of murder in connection with the death of Marcus Jones.
