Bar on Highway 613. That Saturday evening, law enforcement responded to a shooting at the establishment to find Richard Allen Davis with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite receiving medical attention at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries and died.
In the aftermath of the shooting, an investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of two local men. Charles Ike Mason IV, 21 years old at the time, was identified as the alleged shooter. Authorities reported that Mason fired a rifle multiple times into a group of people inside the bar, with Davis being the sole individual struck by the gunfire. Following the incident, Mason allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Jesse Donavan Holifield. Both men later surrendered to law enforcement without incident and were taken into custody at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
