In the early morning hours of March 25, 2024, the life of 15-year-old Janya Lumzy, a Black female, was tragically cut short in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Police responded to a call about a shooting at approximately 4:45 a.m. in the 1500 block of Country Club Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Janya unresponsive in the exterior stairwell of a complex. Despite the immediate aid provided by officers and paramedics, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
