In the small town of Durant, Mississippi, a young man’s life was tragically cut short on Memorial Day. Devonta Tyrone Harmon, a 26-year-old male, found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, a peacemaker in a situation that would ultimately lead to his untimely death. On May 27, 2024, at a Shell gas station on Highway 12 in Holmes County, Harmon attempted to intervene in a fight between two girls, a decision that would have fatal consequences.
