In the summer of 2024, a tragedy unfolded in Jackson, Mississippi, that claimed the life of 50-year-old Fredrick Williams. On the afternoon of Thursday, July 11, police were called to the Addison Place Apartments located in the 3100 block of Robinson Street. Inside one of the residences, they discovered a grim scene. Fredrick Williams and his wife, 75-year-old Shirley Williams, had both been fatally shot.
Emergency responders pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
The double homicide sparked a lengthy investigation by the Jackson Police Department. For nearly a year, detectives worked to piece together the events that led to the couple's violent deaths. The community was left seeking answers as the case remained ongoing. A significant breakthrough in the investigation came almost a year later. In late June of 2025, the Jackson Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect. Thirty-six-year-old Jimmy Lee Davis Jr. was taken into custody and charged in connection with the murders of Fredrick and Shirley Williams. While an arrest was made, authorities indicated that the investigation was still active and encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward to the Jackson Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
