In the late summer of 2024, the life of Kasim Hassan Turner, a 28-year-old male from Utica, Mississippi, was tragically cut short. On Thursday, September 5, 2024, his body was discovered near the intersection of Maddox Road and TV Road in Jackson. An investigation by the Hinds County coroner's office would later confirm that Turner had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
For months, the case remained under investigation by the Jackson Police Department as they worked to identify a suspect
in the fatal shooting. Then, in November 2024, a breakthrough was announced. Detectives arrested 27-year-old Jawonza Dixon in connection with the homicide.
Dixon has since been charged with murder in the death of Kasim Hassan Turner. While an arrest has been made, the investigation is considered ongoing.
