On July 7, 2023, 15-year-old Cortez Hampton Jr. was found fatally shot in an abandoned house in the 2000 block of South Jefferson Avenue in Saginaw, Michigan. Officers from the Saginaw Police Department responded to the scene just before 10 a.m., discovering Cortez with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
