On May 27, 2024, a tragic domestic incident occurred in Detroit, Michigan, resulting in the death of 16-year-old John Howard Thompkins, a Black male. The events unfolded in the afternoon on Memorial Day at a residence in the 11100 block of Beaconsfield Street on the city's east side. Detroit police officers were dispatched to the home around 4:05 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
