In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a violent encounter cut short the life of 28-year-old Jashaun Kelrick Morgan. On June 2, 2024, Morgan, a Black male, was fatally shot in a downtown parking lot near the intersection of Cesar E. Chavez Avenue SW and Cherry Street. The incident, which unfolded around 1 a.m. in a popular entertainment district, also resulted in the death of 31-year-old Eliot Flores and left a third individual with a leg injury.
