On a summer evening in Annapolis, Maryland, the life of 26-year-old Amari Tydings was cut short by gunfire. The incident occurred on June 3, 2023, just after 10:00 p.m. in the Harbor House community located in the Eastport neighborhood. Officers from the Annapolis Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of Madison Street following reports of shots being fired.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a tragic scene.
Inside a car that had jumped the curb of a parking lot, they found Amari Tydings suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response from medics, her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation was described as active and fluid as detectives began the search for those responsible for the city's third homicide of the year.
The investigation led police to identify a suspect, 19-year-old Dyamonick Gray of Severn, Maryland. Just six days after the fatal shooting, on June 9, 2023, U.S. Marshals apprehended Gray in Glen Burnie. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or violent crime, and possession of a regulated firearm while under the age of 21. Following his arrest, Gray was held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.
