In the early hours of July 2, 2023, a festive block party in the Brooklyn Homes community of South Baltimore turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy. Amidst the sounds of celebration, gunfire erupted in the 800 block of Gretna Court, forever altering the lives of dozens of people. When the violence subsided, 18-year-old Aaliyah Gonzalez, a recent high school graduate with a bright future, was found deceased at the scene.
