On March 12, 2001, a male Baltimore City Police Agent, Michael Joseph Cowdery Jr., was tragically killed in the line of duty. The 31-year-old officer had been with the department for four and a half years and was part of a plainclothes unit targeting violence in the city. On that fateful day, Agent Cowdery and his partner were questioning two men in the 2300 block of Harford Road, an area known for open-air drug markets.
