On December 27, 2023, Meghan Riley Lewis, a 57-year-old transgender woman and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, was fatally shot in the parking lot of her apartment complex in Bel Air, Maryland. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the English Country Manor neighborhood.
