On April 6, 2024, at approximately 9:49 p.m., Baltimore Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3700 block of East Lombard Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 48-year-old Jose Castron-Merales suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Castron-Merales was pronounced dead at the scene.
