On the evening of April 18, 2024, the life of 23-year-old Jamil Daquan Butler, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Cockeysville, Maryland. At approximately 9:30 p.m., Baltimore County Police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Lake Vista Circle following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Butler suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation into Butler's death remains active, with detectives diligently working to identify any suspects and piece together the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information to come forward and have provided contact information for the Baltimore County Police and Metro Crime Stoppers, with the possibility of a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
In the wake of this violence, the Cockeysville community has been left shaken, with residents expressing concerns about their safety. Butler's family and friends have been left to mourn their loss. A viewing and wake were held to honor his memory on May 1, 2024, followed by a funeral service the next day. Jamil Daquan Butler was laid to rest at King Memorial Park. The community continues to hope for answers and justice as the investigation proceeds.
