In the quiet town of Boscobel, Wisconsin, a tragic event unfolded on the evening of Wednesday, May 17, 2023, culminating in the death of 58-year-old Russell Mezera, a White male. He and his 32-year-old son, Christopher Mezera, were spending time together in an enclosed porch area of a residence.
What began as a presumably ordinary evening took a devastating turn. At some point during the night, Christopher discharged a firearm twice, striking his father once in the chest. The gunshot wound proved fatal for Russell Mezera. Shortly after, Christopher turned the weapon on himself, taking his own life.
The Boscobel Police Department investigated the incident and identified the two men. Their investigation led them to classify the event as a murder-suicide. While the motive behind Christopher's actions remains unknown, authorities have stated that alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the tragic events of that night.
