On August 5, 2023, Miguel A. Velez, a 21-year-old from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was shot and killed in a violent incident that occurred near the intersection of 15th and Orchard Streets. The shooting also resulted in the death of another individual, 25-year-old Kenneth Omar Irizarry-Pardo.
